Book Group Kits FAQ and Instructions

 

What is a Book Group Kit? 

The Book Group Kit collection includes a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles for adults, specifically selected to be perfect for your next book discussion. Each kit contains up to 15 copies of the selected title and a discussion guide in a convenient carrying crate that can be checked out for six weeks. 

 

How do I reserve a kit?  

  1. Log in to MyTurn using your library card barcode and password.
  2. Search for a title or author or browse by topic, genre, or other features using the filters.
  3. Click "Reserve" on your selected item.
  4. Choose your pickup branch location and select the start date for your reservation from the calendar on the left. Reservation length defaults to 6 weeks. Click “Cart” to check out.
  5. From the cart, click Submit Reservation.

To search for available items during a specific time period:  

  1. Click on the cart at the top of the page, then "Start Reservation."
  2. Select your pickup branch and the start date for your reservation, then click “Add items.”
  3. Choose an item from the available items displayed.
  4. Open your cart from the cart icon at the top right of the screen, then click Submit Reservation.

 

How do I pick up a reserved kit? 

You will receive an email notification when your reservation is ready for pickup at your selected branch. Please pick up your reservation from the service desk at the branch within 7 days.  

 

How do I return a kit? 

Make sure you have collected the copies of the book the kit contained at checkout. Bring the kit back to any KRL library branch to return inside at the desk. The library may charge replacement fees of $100 for a lost book club kit or $10 per lost kit book, up to $100.  

 

How do I make changes to my reservation? 

You can cancel your reservation, add notes & requests, or change the dates (depending on availability). Open the drop-down menu under your name at the top right of the screen, and select “Reservations.” Make your changes, then click “Submit Changes.” For more assistance please contact your library.  

 

What if I want someone else in my book group to pick up my reservation? 

Please update your reservation with a note, or contact your library for assistance. 

 

What about my Book Group Kit reservations in KitKeeper? 

We have transferred existing KitKeeper reservations into MyTurn. If your KitKeeper account had a library card number associated with it, you should see your reservations when you log in to MyTurn with that card. If you do not see the reservations you expect to, please contact us at bookgroupkits@krl.org
